At dawn when the rage ceases The embers of hate are dying down You and me on a field of ruin Gathering smoke beneath a low-hanging sky. Bury me closer to the river So my ashes find their way Into a realm unbound by causes Innocent of misery. Bury me. All we knew is the fight between the houses of yearning Clinging to visions deeply enforced Know the light hope unravelled before us And lifted from our hearts ... All we can do ... Bury me closer to the river So my ashes find their way Into a realm unbound by causes Innocent of misery. Bury me. There's a storm that wrecks the sea Under a sun that burns the land All our heroes long forgotten Illusions of peace dismember our hearts. Nothing's left. Nothing. Left.

Hate//Fear 06:38
We came from the coast the rivulets let our way The shivers came from the fear in our tales An empty court, a crested mare Our dreams collide A new-found hope, away we go Soil in our hands You can build a wall but you can't burn the bridges Our days may cease but there's a fire that burns On top of the world or within the abyss Our deafening cries set the oceans ablaze. The hate The road is paved with dreams forlorn Alas the night sees dreams reborn A ceiling of frost, gnawing thoughts The bitterness within Alas the night, don't give in To the bitterness You can build a wall but you can't burn the bridges Our days may cease but there's a fire that burns On top of the world or within the abyss Our deafening cries set the oceans ablaze. The hate, the fear You can build a wall but you can't burn the bridges Our days may cease but there's a fire that burns On top of the world or within the abyss Our deafening cries set the oceans ablaze.

We dreamed alone, a sadness roamed in our hearts and souls But suddenly, there's a figure ascending: Not a joker, not a thief, but a strange, curious appearance. We razed, all hail the sacred trickster. Forget all you thought you knew Cast yourself in the current with me One last dance before we fall Forget all you thought you knew Cause we ride to hell, watching a figure flouncing in the flames. All notions fail, given in to the bitterness It falls to pieces, dreams begot misery All the hope that was promised misguided our hearts. We razed, farewell you the sacred trickster. Forget all you thought you knew Cast yourself in the current with me One last dance before we fall Forget all you thought you knew Cause we ride to hell, watching a figure flouncing in the flames.

Ān 07:27
Fear me, the sun, the wind, the rain I illuminate your life just to watch it fade My light, a mocking whisper to remain When tenderly I betray and lead astray. Darkness, guide my way Fear me, see me fade Lead me, tenderly Darkness, walk with me. Consumed by light, I follow you into the black. These days of wonder and merriment Long forgotten in the blackness. The memories fading to ashes cold Met in anguish curse of life. No one can grasp the vortex that is this life Fallen under his reign, into oblivion.
5.
Despite the ones who know There's a castle on the hill His gaze surveils my peace of mind. I won't surrender The once and future king I won't loose myself to this I won't surrender The night so bleak Until the scaffolds crumble. Heretics gather close Siege the fort and storm the gates The walls are in your mind. I won't surrender The once and future king I won't loose myself to this I won't surrender The night so bleak Until the scaffolds crumble.
6.
Dark is the world our fathers left us, Wearily, greyly the long years flow, Almost the gloom has of hope bereft us, Far is the high gods’ song and low: Tear ye the veil of time asunder Tear the veil, ’tis the gods’ command, Hear we the sun-stricken Over the shore where the heroes stand. Sombre the crests of the mountains lonely, Leafless, wind-ridden, moan the trees: Down in the valleys is twilight only, Twilight over the mourning seas: Tear ye the veil of time asunder Tear ye the veil it's the gods' command Hear we the sun Over the shore.
7.
I carry a madness Everywhere I go My feet stumble on the path that lies before. Dethroned by fire And thousand ships below Claim me I'll follow Embrace the cold. My eye is breaking In the light of the coming storm I am the midnight, the hollow crown. Dethroned by fire And thousand ships below Claim me I'll follow Come embrace the cold. Dethroned by fire and ships Claim me! When you stand before me All cloaked up with a twisted smile "This is the end", you said. "Come embrace the void." The void! The void!
8.
Preacher 06:35
The yonder dales one night ablazed Out of the twilight a preacher came His eyes were glaring in the dusk I sold my sould to the preacher man. Throught cropped fields he came around He brought the seed of hate We listened to his words of yore How to cross the edge of our town. I sold my soul, I sold my soul. I sold my soul, to the preacher man. With restless eyes Our hollow hearts remain Bodies are weak Our minds agonised Sold our souls to the preacher man Now we follow in his lead April is the cruellest month His showers sowing lands of ash Unkindled lands that we wander through A starless night that guards us We sold our souls, we sold our souls. We sold our souls, to the preacher man. With restless eyes Our hollow hearts remain Bodies are weak Our minds agonised

Marc-Eric Gagnon @ Doomcharts
"Did you ever considered to be friend with a monster? Because this is definitely what Kyning are proposing us with Ān!
This album is a giant sized Stoner Prog monster with many tentacles. Some are more grungy, some covered in desert sand and some more doomy. Your fate is written, one or the other will undeniably wrap up against you, hold you and never release you! So, I wish you good luck!!!"

Frazer Jones @ Desert Psychlist
"Nothing is straightforward about what Kyning bring to the table with 'Ān', riffs fizz and pop but they also crunch and crackle, rhythm patterns shift and change with an unnerving regularity and the vocals can range from a clean impassioned howl to guttural roar in a nano-second. Fellow music junkie and Doom Charts contributor Steve Rodger commented on the bands Bandcamp page 'I’m not entirely sure what the fuck is going on here, possibly some kind of twisted proggy grunge perhaps, but I am pretty sure it’s great ...' and he is 100% correct, from opening track 'Bury Me Closer' to the closing number 'Preacher' the listener is not so much led by the hand through Kyning's mythical world of melancholy, mistrust and malcontent as dragged through it screaming, made to look at leafless trees and sombre lonely mountains against a musical soundtrack that is continuously soaring and plummeting, a relentless ride that is as mind-blowing as it is breathtaking.
Those that thought that prog metal had steered its way into a cul-de-sac and had nowhere else left to go should wrap their ears around Kyning's 'Ān', by blending into their proggish overtures elements of alt-rock, stoner rock, doom and metal Kyning have shown that prog still has destinations not yet explored."

Fuzzy Cracklins Presents
"So what's to dig here? Kyning works from a heavy, riff-driven foundation upon which they are not afraid to build up their music with a prog energy. And the vocals -- the singing simply puts Kyning into a league of their own. The singing stands out not only for being unique, but also in its delivery. It's a challenge for a singer to keep up with the leaps and bounds of this style of music, and singer / guitarist Johannes is more than up for the challenge."

"Kyning leave nothing on the table. This album is chockful of sonic adventure into their very unique lens."
